Tate nets 16 points as Appalachian State tops UL Monroe 66-58

MONROE, La. — Myles Tate led the Appalachian State Mountaineers to a solid 66-58 win over UL Monroe on Saturday, scoring a total of 16 points.
Tate also contributed five rebounds to the team’s effort, helping the Mountaineers elevate their record to 12 wins and 8 losses, with a conference record of 6-3 in the Sun Belt Conference.
CJ Huntley supported the team’s offense by scoring 10 points on 4 of 11 shooting, including 1 of 3 from beyond the arc, and he also secured 12 rebounds in a strong performance.
Jalil Beaubrun added another 10 points to the score, shooting 2 of 7 from the field and excelling at the free-throw line with 6 of 7 conversions.

On the opposing side, the UL Monroe Warhawks, who are struggling this season, saw their record fall to 4-17 with an 0-8 standing in the conference due to this defeat.
Jalen Bolden was the standout player for the Warhawks, finishing the game with 12 points, along with four assists and three steals.
Tyreese Watson contributed significantly as well, scoring 11 points, grabbing six rebounds, and providing five assists.
Makai Willis recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while also making an impact defensively with three steals and two blocks.
This loss marked the Warhawks’ tenth consecutive defeat, further complicating their season.

Looking ahead, Appalachian State will be back on the court Wednesday, facing Old Dominion at home, while UL Monroe is scheduled to take on South Alabama on Monday.
