BALTIMORE — Max Green delivered a standout performance with 25 points, leading Holy Cross to a narrow victory over Loyola (MD) with a final score of 70-65 on Saturday.
Green also contributed six rebounds for the Crusaders, who improved their record to 11-10 and 3-5 in the Patriot League. Joe Nugent supported the team with 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Caleb Kenney added eight points, hitting 4 of 7 shots from the field.
On the other side, the Greyhounds, who now have a record of 8-11 and 3-5 in league play, were spearheaded by Milos Ilic with 15 points. Jordan Stiemke matched Ilic’s score of 15 points, rounding out his performance with four steals and two blocks. Veljko Ilic also pulled down six rebounds while contributing 12 points to the team’s total.
In the first half, Green managed to score 12 points, but Holy Cross found themselves at a disadvantage at halftime, trailing 36-33. The second half saw Holy Cross stage a comeback, starting with a 7-0 run to flip a one-point deficit into a lead at 59-53 with 8:42 remaining in the game, which they were able to maintain for the victory. Green was instrumental in this turnaround, adding another 13 points after the break.
Looking ahead, Holy Cross will face Boston University on the road this Monday, while Loyola (MD) is set to play Bucknell on Wednesday.
