In Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, Spanish golfer Alejandro del Rey showcased an impressive performance by carding a spotless 6-under-par 66 on Saturday. This remarkable round has positioned him with a two-stroke advantage as he heads into the concluding day of the Ras Al Khaimah Championship.
After posting a 68 on the first day, del Rey’s second round improved significantly, boosting his ranking in the tournament. Starting the third round two strokes behind the overnight leader Marcus Armitage, del Rey quickly gained momentum, seizing the lead by the turn after notching three birdies. He continued his strong play with another trio of birdies, bringing his total to an impressive 16 under par as he prepares for Sunday’s decisive round.
“I’ve claimed victories on various tours globally and feel confident in my ability to finish strong,” del Rey remarked about his experience. “It’s all about having faith in yourself and delivering your best performance. I believe I possess the skills to wrap up tournaments effectively, so I’ll aim to achieve that tomorrow.”
Armitage, after carding a 2-under-par 70, sits alone in second place, trailing del Rey by five strokes. Meanwhile, a contingent of players, including Australia’s Jason Scrivener with a round of 65, South Africa’s Shaun Norris at 69, and France’s David Ravetto, who finished with a 70, are sharing the third position.
As the final round approaches, the competition is heating up, and all eyes will be on del Rey as he attempts to clinch the victory while others seek to challenge his lead.
