Celtic’s Scottish Premiership game with Dundee delayed due to storm-related damage

GLASGOW, Scotland — The match in the Scottish Premiership between Celtic and Dundee, which was set for this Saturday, has been canceled due to damage caused by a recent storm to Celtic Park.

Storm Eowyn hit central Scotland on Friday, bringing powerful winds that reached speeds of up to 160 kph (100 mph), leading to a severe weather warning issued by the Met Office that highlighted potential dangers to life.

In an official announcement on Saturday, Celtic, the current leaders of the league, stated, “Today’s scheduled match between Celtic and Dundee at Celtic Park has been called off.” They went on to explain, “Regrettably, due to the damage to the stadium that occurred yesterday, we have been informed that we cannot continue with today’s game. While this news is disappointing, ensuring the safety of our supporters remains our foremost priority.”

Celtic also announced that the rescheduled date for the match will be February 5.
