DAYTON, Ohio — Nate Santos led the charge for Dayton, scoring 24 points to guide his team to a 77-72 victory over Saint Joseph’s (PA) on Friday night.
Santos also contributed eight rebounds for the Flyers, who improved their record to 14 wins and 6 losses, including 4 wins and 3 losses in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Amael L’Etang followed with 14 points, making 5 of 12 attempts from the field, with a 3-of-9 performance from beyond the arc and a free-throw showing of 1 of 3, while also grabbing six rebounds. Malachi Smith chipped in with 12 points, hitting 3 of 8 from the floor, and made all six of his free-throw attempts.
On the other side, Saint Joseph’s (PA), who now hold a record of 12 wins and 8 losses with 4 wins and 4 losses in the conference, was led in scoring by Erik Reynolds II. He ended the game with 21 points. Xzayvier Brown also made a significant contribution with 18 points and five assists, while Rasheer Fleming added 13 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
In the closing moments of the game, Reynolds proved to be crucial as he secured the final seven points for Dayton, helping to solidify their five-point triumph.
Looking ahead, Dayton will face off against Saint Bonaventure on Tuesday in an away game, while Saint Joseph’s (PA) is set to host Duquesne on Wednesday.
