ERIE, Pa. – In a thrilling matchup on Friday night, Aidan Reichert led the way for the Mercyhurst Lakers with an impressive performance, scoring 23 points in their 71-66 victory over Wagner.
Reichert showcased his shooting skills, making 9 of 12 attempts from the field, including a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, contributing significantly to the Lakers’ success. Jeff Planutis also played a vital role in the win, scoring 15 points while shooting 3 for 6 overall and hitting 2 of 4 from three-point territory. He was particularly efficient from the charity stripe, sinking 7 of 8 free throws. Additionally, Bernie Blunt added 12 points but struggled a bit, going 4 for 12 from the field and managing just 2 of 8 from three-point range.
On the other side of the court, the Seahawks were paced by Zae Blake, who tallied 18 points along with two steals. Wagner’s offense also included contributions from Zaire Williams with 13 points, while R.J. Greene added nine points to round out the scoring efforts for the team.
Both teams will be back in action on Sunday, as Mercyhurst is set to take on LIU while Wagner will head out to face Saint Francis (PA). The upcoming games will be key for both teams as they seek to improve their conference standings.
