SOUTH EASTON, Mass. — In a thrilling finish, Josh Morgan scored a layup as the final buzzer sounded, guiding Stonehill to a narrow 75-73 victory against Chicago State on Friday night.

With just six seconds remaining, Gabe Spinelli’s layup tied the game at 73-73, prompting Stonehill to utilize two timeouts to strategize their last play. The Skyhawks executed an in-bounds pass to Morgan positioned in the corner. Morgan then used a quick spin to maneuver past his defender and made the decisive layup that secured the win.

Louie Semona was a standout player for the Skyhawks, contributing 21 points on an efficient shooting performance, going 7 of 12 from the floor, including 2 of 5 from beyond the arc, and converting 5 of 6 free throws. In addition, Amir Nesbitt added 13 points, hitting 5 of 12 shots while making 2 of 7 from three-point territory. Hermann Koffi rounded out the scoring for Stonehill with 12 points, shooting 5 of 10, including 2 of 6 from the three-point range.

On the other side, Spinelli led the Cougars with an impressive 25 points. Jalen Forrest also made a significant impact for Chicago State, contributing 23 points, while Troy McCoy chipped in with 11 points.

Both teams are scheduled to play again on Sunday, with Stonehill set to host Fairleigh Dickinson, while Chicago State will head out to face Central Connecticut State.
