Ex-Kennesaw State coach Brian Bohannon rejoining Georgia Tech as senior offensive assistant coach

Brian Bohannon, the former head coach at Kennesaw State, is making a comeback at Georgia Tech where he will take on the role of senior offensive assistant on head coach Brent Key’s coaching staff.

This return was one of four new staff appointments announced by Georgia Tech on Friday. Kobie Jones, who served as the assistant cornerbacks coach at Alabama this past season, has been appointed as the new cornerbacks coach.

In addition, Mike Polly has joined the team as the assistant offensive line coach, while Emil Ekiyor Jr. has been brought on board as a quality control assistant focusing on the offensive line.

Bohannon leads an impressive record of 72 wins and 38 losses during his tenure at Kennesaw State, which lasted until November 11 when the team had a challenging season with a 1-8 record. While the school stated that Bohannon resigned, he contends that he was actually let go.

During his 10 years at Kennesaw State, Bohannon achieved significant success, including winning three Big South Conference championships and guiding the team to four postseason appearances in the FCS playoffs.

Before his time at Kennesaw State, Bohannon spent 16 seasons as an assistant coach under Paul Johnson, during which he spent five seasons as the quarterbacks and running backs coach at Georgia Tech from 2008 to 2012. He also worked with Johnson during his coaching stints at Navy and Georgia Southern.
