Las Vegas has been selected to host the College Football Playoff national championship game in 2027. The announcement was made recently, confirming that the championship will take place on January 25, 2027, at Allegiant Stadium, a premier venue located in the city.
To commemorate this exciting news, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority created a video featuring magician Shin Lim, who performed a stunning illusion at the famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign. During the performance, Lim transformed the iconic sign to unveil a message celebrating the upcoming championship event’s arrival in Las Vegas.
“Las Vegas has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to host high-profile events, showcasing its remarkable venues and vibrant atmosphere,” stated Rich Clark, the executive director of the College Football Playoff. He noted that the city is well-prepared to welcome the championship game in grand style.
The 2027 championship will be significant as Las Vegas becomes the third locale in the Pacific time zone to host this prestigious event, following the Bay Area in 2019 and Los Angeles in 2023.
John Saccenti, the executive director of the Las Vegas Bowl, expressed confidence in the city’s ability to put on a successful event. He referred to the Super Bowl held in the city in 2024, noting that it received rave reviews from sponsors, team executives, and league officials, who deemed it the best in Super Bowl history. “Las Vegas is designed for such events,” he emphasized, highlighting the abundance of hotel rooms available—around 165,000—many of which come with significant convention space for gatherings and celebrations.
He further mentioned the conveniences of the Las Vegas Strip, with nine properties located within walking distance of the stadium, as well as ample dining options and direct flight access from numerous locations.
For context, the 2026 College Football Playoff national championship game is scheduled to be hosted at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, solidifying a chain of high-stakes football events leading into the 2027 game in Las Vegas.
