The LPGA announced on Friday the cancellation of the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship, which was to be held near Los Angeles. This decision came after the tournament’s financial backer failed to make necessary payments for the events scheduled in 2024 and 2025.
Defending champion Nelly Korda was set to compete at Palos Verdes Golf Club, where the tournament was slated to take place from March 20 to 23.
According to a statement from the LPGA, the cancellation became necessary due to the underwriter’s inability to meet any of its payment obligations. The LPGA expressed its commitment to collaborating with the title sponsor Fir Hills and Seri Pak, the legendary Hall of Fame golfer who hosts the tournament, in hopes of finding alternative solutions.
Liz Moore, the interim commissioner of the LPGA, emphasized the organization’s ongoing desire to reinstate this event, highlighting the significance of Seri Pak’s legacy and her role as a distinguished ambassador for both the sport and the tournament.
