ST. MORITZ, Switzerland — In a spectacular showcase of talent, the U.S. secured both gold and bronze medals in the women’s World Cup monobob event held on Friday, marking their finest performance of the season to date.
Elana Meyers Taylor dominated the competition, clinching first place, while her teammate Kaysha Love followed closely to finish in third. Australia’s Bree Walker was awarded the silver medal, which propelled her to the second position in the overall rankings, just behind Germany’s Lisa Buckwitz.
This latest race marked a notable moment for Buckwitz, who failed to make the podium for the first time this season, finishing in fourth place. Subsequently, Love’s strong performance allowed her to climb to the fourth spot in the overall monobob standings.
Looking ahead, fans can anticipate further thrilling events as the World Cup continues. On Saturday, the women’s monobob as well as four-man bobsled races will be taking place in St. Moritz. Meanwhile, in Oberhof, Germany, the World Cup will feature women’s doubles, men’s doubles, and women’s singles luge competitions. The skeleton season finales are scheduled for February 7 in Lillehammer, Norway, where men’s, women’s, and mixed team events will bring the exhilarating series to a close.
