FULLERTON, Calif. — In an exciting showdown on Thursday, CSU Bakersfield edged out CSU Fullerton with a final score of 71-68, largely thanks to Jemel Jones, who scored 22 points.

Jones also contributed significantly to his team’s success by grabbing five rebounds and dishing out five assists, leading the Roadrunners to a record of 10 wins and 10 losses, including four wins and four losses in the Big West Conference.

CJ Hardy played a key role in the victory as well, contributing 19 points. While he struggled a bit with his shooting, going 5 of 15 from the field and only 1 of 5 from three-point territory, he made up for it at the free-throw line, hitting 8 of 12 attempts. Marvin McGhee also made an impact with an efficient performance, scoring 11 points on 4 of 5 shooting, which included a strong showing from the three-point line with 3 of 4.

On the other side of the court, the Titans, now at 6-15 and 1-8 in conference play, were led by Donovan Oday, who tallied 20 points along with two steals. Fellow teammate Zion Richardson also made a mark, scoring 15 points while adding two steals. Antwan Robinson contributed with 14 points and secured eight rebounds, showing his versatility on the court.

Both teams are set to return to action on Saturday, as CSU Bakersfield will host UC Riverside, while CSU Fullerton will take on UCSB at home.
