SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Pat Coogan, an offensive lineman for Notre Dame, has announced his decision to transfer after contributing significantly to the team over the past two seasons. Known for his role as both a lineman and the team’s energizing pregame motivator, Coogan shared his plans on social media, indicating he has one year of eligibility remaining as a graduate transfer.

Coogan is not alone in his transition from the Fighting Irish, as he joins a group of players that includes fellow guards Rocco Spindler and Sam Pendleton, along with wide receivers Deion Colzie and Jayden Thomas. This wave of departures follows the team’s recent 34-23 defeat to Ohio State in the College Football Playoff national championship game earlier this week, as reported by various media outlets.

Spindler, who is a senior, started 13 games this season at right guard after initially losing out on his starting position to Pendleton during the fall preseason training. Over the course of his college career, Spindler has participated in 23 games spanning four seasons and still retains one year of eligibility.

Pendleton also made his mark this season, starting seven games and having three years of eligibility remaining for his college football journey.
