ST. LOUIS — On Wednesday night, Robbie Avila delivered an impressive performance, scoring 21 points as Saint Louis triumphed over La Salle with a final score of 64-52.
Avila’s contributions included not only his scoring but also eight rebounds and five assists for the Billikens, who now hold a record of 12-7 and stand at 5-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Kalu Anya was another standout for the team, contributing 11 points and an impressive 13 rebounds. Both Gibson Jimerson and Kalu Anya finished the game with 11 points each.
For La Salle, Deuce Jones was the top performer, netting 10 points along with three steals. Demetrius Lilley supported the team with nine points, seven rebounds, and three steals, while Corey McKeithan chipped in with eight points and three steals.
Saint Louis gained control of the game with 2 minutes and 18 seconds remaining in the first half and managed to maintain that advantage throughout. Avila’s nine points in the first half were pivotal in establishing a 31-25 lead at halftime. The Billikens continued to pull ahead in the second half, reaching a 43-27 lead thanks to a remarkable 12-0 scoring streak. Avila scored an additional 12 points during the second half to cement the team’s victory.
