LOWELL, Mass. — On Wednesday night, the Boston Fleet secured a solid 4-1 victory over the Toronto Sceptres, with Alina Müller and Emily Brown both netting their first goals of the season during the opening period. Aerin Frankel played a stellar game in goal, turning aside 35 shots.
This win marked Boston’s (3-2-2-4) first regulation victory since their last home game on December 17, emphasizing their resilience after a challenging stretch.
Müller kicked off the scoring less than five minutes into the game, deftly redirecting a pass from Hannah Brandt to put her team ahead 1-0. Shortly before the end of the first period, Müller showcased her playmaking skills again, spinning just in front of the net and setting up Brown for her goal with 2:12 remaining, extending the lead to 2-0. Until this game, Müller had only recorded one point throughout the first nine contests of the season.
The third period began with Shay Maloney scoring just 58 seconds in, shooting a bouncing puck through the legs of Toronto goaltender Kristen Campbell to increase Boston’s lead to 3-0. Megan Keller sealed the victory by finding the empty net with just 14.2 seconds left on the clock.
Toronto (3-0-2-6) managed to score late in the game when Kali Flanagan, making a wide move, passed to captain Blayre Turnbull, who delivered a backhand one-timer to finally get their name on the scoreboard with 5:10 left in regulation.
Frankel’s performance marked her seventh career game with 30 or more saves, illustrating her importance to the team’s success on the ice.
