Olean, N.Y. — In a recent matchup, Zach Anderson contributed significantly to George Mason’s 75-62 victory over St. Bonaventure, scoring 17 points on the night.
Anderson was efficient with his shooting, going 6 for 9 overall, including an impressive 5 for 8 from three-point range. The Patriots, now holding a record of 15 wins and five losses (6-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference), saw Darius Maddox also stepping up, adding 14 points along with seven rebounds. Brayden O’Connor supported the team’s offense by converting 2 of 6 field goal attempts and striking a perfect 8 for 8 from the free-throw line to finish with 13 points.
For St. Bonaventure, Melvin Council Jr. was a standout performer, tallying 18 points, along with six rebounds and four assists. His teammate Duane Thompson contributed 16 points and seven rebounds to the effort as well. The Bonnies have a similar overall record of 15-5 but sit at 3-4 within the conference.
In the first half, Anderson was particularly effective, leading the scoring with 12 points, which helped George Mason establish a 45-31 advantage at halftime. The second half also saw Maddox shine, as he led the Patriots with nine points during that period.
Looking ahead, George Mason will face Loyola Chicago at home in their next game scheduled for Wednesday. Meanwhile, St. Bonaventure is set to take on VCU on Friday, aiming to improve their conference standing.
