Toledo, Ohio — Cian Medley was the standout performer for Kent State, scoring 22 points as the Golden Flashes triumphed over Toledo with a final score of 83-64 on Tuesday evening.
Medley also contributed seven assists, helping Kent State improve their record to 12 wins and 6 losses, as well as 3 wins and 3 losses in the Mid-American Conference. VonCameron Davis supported the team with 19 points, showcasing an impressive shooting performance where he made 7 of 14 attempts from the field and went a perfect 4 for 4 from the free-throw line. Additionally, Marquis Barnett contributed to the scoring effort with 13 points, including an outstanding 3 for 3 from three-point range, making 5 of 8 overall.
The Rockets, now 10-8 overall and 4-2 in conference play, were led by Javan Simmons, who notched 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Sonny Wilson also played a key role, chipping in with 19 points. Sam Lewis added eight points and recorded two steals, rounding out Toledo’s offensive efforts.
Kent State seized control of the game early, establishing a lead with 17:33 remaining in the first half and maintaining their advantage throughout. By halftime, they had built a solid 44-30 lead, with Medley scoring 14 points in total. During the second half, Kent State pushed their advantage to 59-42, highlighted by a 9-0 scoring run. Davis was particularly instrumental, leading his team in scoring during the second half with 13 points as they secured the victory.
