KINGSTON, R.I. — In a decisive matchup on Tuesday night, VCU overcame Rhode Island with a score of 81-57, highlighted by Joe Bamisile’s exceptional performance, contributing 24 points to his team’s success.
Bamisile’s shooting stats reflected his efficiency, hitting 10 of 18 shots overall, with 2 of those from three-point range. The Rams are now boasting a record of 15 wins and 4 losses, along with a solid 5-1 standing in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Max Shulga also played a significant role in the victory, putting up 15 points. His shooting breakdown included 4 for 12 from the field, with 1 of 3 from beyond the arc, while excelling at the free-throw line with 6 out of 7 successful attempts. Shulga also secured seven rebounds. Additionally, Jack Clark chipped in with 12 points, going 5 for 8 overall and 2 for 5 from three-point territory.
On the opposing side, Rhode Island’s Sebastian Thomas led his team with 19 points alongside two steals. Jaden House contributed 15 points, also racking up two steals, while David Green added eight points along with six rebounds and another pair of steals.
VCU gained control early in the game, taking the lead just 18 seconds into the first half and maintaining their advantage throughout. They entered halftime with a 40-34 lead, buoyed by Bamisile’s 14 first-half points. In a dominant second-half performance, VCU outscored Rhode Island by 18 points, with the standout scorer after the break being Shulga, who accounted for 11 points in that period alone.
