PARIS — Flanker Anthony Jelonch has opted to withdraw from the French national team currently preparing for the upcoming Six Nations tournament.
On Monday, the French rugby federation did not specify the reason behind his departure. Jelonch, who has contributed three tries in his 29 international caps, had played a key role for Toulouse just the day before, contributing to an impressive 80-12 victory over Leicester in the Champions Cup.
In light of Jelonch’s exit, the federation announced that Romain Taofifenua will take his place among the group of 42 players preparing for the tournament. This choice has drawn attention, especially since Taofifenua had been previously sidelined due to a knee injury.
France’s first match of the tournament is set to take place against Wales on January 31.
