PARIS — Lock Romain Taofifenua has been sidelined from the France national rugby team that is gearing up for the Six Nations tournament due to a knee injury.
The French rugby federation announced on Sunday that Taofifenua, who plays with Racing 92, will be replaced in the squad of 42 players by Mickaël Guillard.
Guillard, representing Lyon, has previously made five appearances for France.
France is set to kick off their Six Nations campaign with a home match against Wales on January 31.
Additionally, winger Louis Bielle-Biarrey was also substituted out of the lineup on Sunday, but it remains uncertain if he will definitively miss the upcoming test against Wales.
Reports from French media have indicated that Bielle-Biarrey was unable to participate in his club’s 66-12 victory over the Sharks in the Champions Cup due to experiencing dizziness.
To fill Bielle-Biarrey’s position in the national team, he has been replaced by Killian Tixeront from Clermont.
