Forsberg’s two goals and two assists propel Predators past Wild 6-2

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Nashville Predators clinched their third consecutive win by overpowering the Minnesota Wild with a 6-2 score on Saturday night, led by standout performances from Filip Forsberg, who netted two goals and provided two assists.

Colton Sissons, Steven Stamkos, Fedor Svechkov, and Brady Skjei also contributed goals, while Juuse Saros turned away 27 shots to secure the victory for Nashville. Roman Josi supported the offense with two assists.

On the other side, the Wild’s Matt Boldy scored once and assisted on another goal, with David Jiricek also finding the back of the net. Marc-Andre Fleury, the Wild’s goalie, recorded 32 saves as the team faced their third consecutive loss and has now dropped four out of their last five games.

The game began on a shaky note for Nashville as they fell behind due to Jiricek’s goal early in the first period. However, the Predators found their footing and quickly turned the tide with goals from Sissons and Forsberg, taking the lead. The first period was also marked by three fights on the ice.

In the second period, Stamkos capitalized early, scoring to extend the Predators’ lead to 4-1. Boldy brought the Wild back within two, but Forsberg quickly added another goal to his tally, marking his sixth goal in just five games. Skjei rounded off the scoring with an empty-net goal late in the third period.

Observations from the game highlight that the Wild had previously bested the Predators in their earlier two matchups this season, both held in Minnesota, but could not claim victory this time.

For the Predators, who had a rocky start to the season, this victory highlights their recent resurgence, having won three consecutive games, with two victories against playoff contenders—Minnesota and the Vegas Golden Knights.

A pivotal moment came less than a minute into the second period when Stamkos scored, giving Nashville a 3-1 lead. He has now recorded four goals over his last three games, demonstrating a significant offensive boost.

Another noteworthy statistic is Forsberg’s power-play goal in the first period, which extended his goal-scoring streak to five games. This run follows an 18-game stretch in which he struggled to find the net. Additionally, this goal marked his 81st career power-play goal, setting a new franchise record and surpassing the previous record held by Hockey Hall of Famer Shea Weber.

Looking forward, the Wild will face off against the Colorado Avalanche on Monday night, while the Predators are set to host the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night.
