RICHMOND, Ky. — In a thrilling matchup on Saturday night, Eastern Kentucky managed to claim a narrow victory against Bellarmine, finishing the game with a score of 72-69. George Kimble III played a pivotal role in this win, contributing significantly with 21 points.
In the closing seconds of the game, Bellarmine’s Billy Smith made a layup, narrowing the gap to 70-69 with only four seconds remaining on the clock. However, Kimble stepped up at the free-throw line and sealed the deal for the Colonels, securing their victory. Alongside his scoring efforts, Kimble also grabbed seven rebounds and recorded three steals, helping Eastern Kentucky improve their record to 9-10 overall and 3-3 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Additionally, Turner Buttry targeted 15 points and added three steals of his own. Montavious Myrick also had a strong performance, shooting a perfect 3 for 3 from the field and hitting 6 of 7 free throws to contribute 12 points, along with eight rebounds.
On the other side, the Knights faced another challenging night, falling to a record of 3-16 and 0-6 in their conference. Billy Smith led Bellarmine with 20 points, while Jack Karasinski followed closely with 17 points. Kenyon Goodin also contributed 11 points and tallied five assists, but the team now faces the unfortunate reality of a nine-game losing streak.
