Wright leads North Texas with 22 points in 72-57 win against UTSA

SAN ANTONIO — Atin Wright was instrumental in North Texas’ victory over UTSA, scoring 22 points in a 72-57 win on Saturday night.

Wright demonstrated his sharp shooting skills, making 8 of 14 attempts from the field and 5 of 8 from beyond the arc for the Mean Green, who improved to 13-4 overall and 4-1 in the American Athletic Conference. Moulaye Sissoko contributed significantly as well, offering 13 points with an impressive shooting performance of 5 for 6 and a perfect 3 for 3 from the free-throw line, alongside grabbing eight rebounds. Brenen Lorient also reached double figures, scoring 13 points with a shooting line of 3 of 5 from the field and succeeding on 6 of his 8 free-throw attempts.

For the Roadrunners, Tai’Reon Joseph stood out with a game-high 19 points. Raekwon Horton added 15 points and provided three steals for his team, while Marcus Millender also contributed with 13 points and another three steals.

North Texas seized control early in the matchup, taking the lead just a minute into the first half and maintaining it throughout the game. Wright was particularly effective in the first half, scoring 14 points and helping the Mean Green secure a commanding 40-18 lead at halftime. Although they were outscored by UTSA in the second half by seven points, Sissoko continued to shine, finishing with nine points in the final period.
