BETHLEHEM, Pa. — In an impressive performance, Veljko Ilic contributed significantly to Loyola Maryland’s victory over Lehigh on Saturday, scoring 15 points coming off the bench in a 76-60 matchup.
In addition to his scoring, Ilic secured nine rebounds for the Greyhounds, who now stand at 8-9 overall and 3-3 in the Patriot League. Teammate Milos Ilic added to the effort with 14 points, capitalizing on 5-of-7 shooting while also grabbing six rebounds. Jacob Theodosiou contributed 12 points, shooting 4-for-10 from the field, which included two made three-pointers and two successful free throws.
For the Mountain Hawks, Edouard Benoit was the standout performer, finishing with 15 points. Cam Gillus matched that total with another 15 points for Lehigh, while Nasir Whitlock contributed with 10 points and provided five assists.
In the opening half, Veljko Ilic made a significant impact by scoring 10 points, helping his team to narrow the deficit and reach halftime only down 33-31. The Greyhounds surged ahead in the second half, transforming a slim one-point advantage into a nine-point lead through an 8-0 scoring run that made it 46-37 with 14:17 still on the clock. Milos Ilic played a crucial role in the second half, scoring 12 points as the game progressed.
