FRANKFURT, Germany — Omar Marmoush appears to be on the brink of transferring to Manchester City, as his current team Eintracht Frankfurt announced ongoing negotiations with the English club. The Egyptian forward is likely to exit Frankfurt soon.

Marmoush was not included in the matchday squad during Frankfurt’s impressive 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund, but he was seen on the pitch afterward, seemingly bidding farewell to fans as they showed their appreciation.

Markus Krösche, the sporting director of Frankfurt, remarked to DAZN prior to the match that discussions with City have been active. He emphasized that this potential move represents a significant opportunity for Marmoush.

Krösche stated, “We’ll see how this unfolds in the next hours and possibly days, but the likelihood of him departing is now quite high.”

According to reports from German broadcaster Sky, the transfer for Marmoush could involve a sum of 75 million euros (approximately $77.1 million), alongside another five million euros ($5.14 million) in performance-related bonuses.

This season, Marmoush has been among Europe’s elite scorers, netting 15 goals in 17 Bundesliga matches, which places him just behind Harry Kane, the league’s top scorer. He has recorded a total of 20 goals across all competitions in 26 matches this season.

Should he finalize the transfer to Manchester City, it would mark a swift ascent for Marmoush, who joined Frankfurt on a free transfer in 2023 from Wolfsburg, where he managed just five goals the previous season. His existing contract with Frankfurt is valid until 2027.

On the same day, Manchester City secured a long-term deal with their superstar striker Erling Haaland, extending his contract until 2034.
