Brayden Schenn nets two goals in the Blues’ 4-1 win against the Flames

ST. LOUIS — On Thursday night, the St. Louis Blues secured a convincing 4-1 victory over the Calgary Flames, completing a two-game series sweep in St. Louis. Brayden Schenn was a standout performer, netting two goals, while Jordan Kyrou added his 20th goal of the season. Colton Parayko also contributed to the scoreboard, and goaltender Joel Hofer made 28 saves to solidify the win for the Blues. Dylan Holloway played a pivotal role for Calgary, providing two assists, while Yegor Sharangovich managed to score the Flames’ lone goal, with Dustin Wolf making 25 saves in net.

The Blues wasted no time establishing their dominance, scoring three goals in the opening period from just 13 shots on goal. Schenn initiated the scoring early at 4:55, followed by a powerful slap shot from Parayko at 6:07, and Kyrou capped off the first period with a goal at 4:20 remaining.

In recent matchups, the Flames have struggled significantly against the Blues, winning only once in their last 11 encounters. The Blues’ sweep of the Flames this season marks a notable achievement, as it’s the second consecutive season they have defeated Calgary in all encounters, a first in the franchise’s history.

A crucial moment came from defenseman Tyler Tucker, who kept a play alive with a backhand maneuver at the blue line. He then fed the puck to Holloway, who quickly delivered it to Kyrou. Kyrou’s precise wrist shot extended their lead to 3-0, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

Notably, Thursday marked a milestone for Doug Armstrong, the general manager of the Blues, as he oversaw his 1,500th game. Out of this total, he has managed 1,123 games with the Blues and previously 377 games with the Dallas Stars, making him the 19th GM in NHL history to reach this benchmark.

Both teams are set to return to the ice this Saturday night, with the Flames traveling to Winnipeg and the Blues heading to Utah.
