Khvicha Kvaratskhelia shared an emotional goodbye video to the Napoli fans on Thursday, signaling an anticipated departure from the Italian football scene. The talented 23-year-old Georgian winger played a pivotal role in Napoli’s successful Serie A title campaign in 2023 and has drawn attention from clubs like Paris Saint-Germain in France and Liverpool in the Premier League.

In the heartfelt video posted on Instagram, Kvaratskhelia spoke directly to his fans, who affectionately dubbed him “Kvaradona,” a nod to the legendary Diego Maradona, a figure synonymous with Napoli’s history. “It’s hard for me, but it’s time to say goodbye. I spent an amazing time here, and we shared countless memories, experiencing so many incredible emotions,” Kvaratskhelia reflected, appearing visibly moved. He added that Napoli had become his home, and the shared journey remained etched in his mind, particularly his debut goal.

Last Saturday, Napoli’s head coach, Antonio Conte, acknowledged that Kvaratskhelia had expressed a desire to leave the club. “I spoke to the player, and he confirmed his decision to me,” Conte revealed. “I am disappointed; this news surprised me, and I respect his choice.”

With the recent exits of superstars Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe, PSG is in dire need of reinforcements in their attacking line-up. Kvaratskhelia’s skills as a goal scorer and his extraordinary dribbling and speed make him a prime candidate to help rejuvenate a team that has struggled with offensive efficiency.

During his time with Napoli, Kvaratskhelia scored 30 goals in 107 appearances and had a remarkable partnership with striker Victor Osimhen, contributing to the club’s first Serie A championship in 33 years, a title first won when Maradona led the team in 1990. “Napoli is a football city, where the sport is a vital part of life, and I’ve cherished being part of its rich history,” he remarked, paying homage at a statue of Maradona while expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to wear the prestigious Napoli colors.

Kvaratskhelia promised fans that he would shed light on his reasons for leaving at an appropriate time. “Though I bid you farewell, you will always occupy a special place in my heart,” he said, wearing the No. 77 jersey with pride. He acknowledged the heartbreak his departure might cause among supporters, indicating that he would share more details in the future.

To close the emotional farewell, Kvaratskhelia visited the Spagnoli district, home to a massive mural of Maradona, whose legacy endures in the city. “I couldn’t leave without paying tribute to this incredible place; it’s where the essence of Diego resonates the strongest. He is revered above all here,” Kvaratskhelia declared. “I must say goodbye to Diego. Goodbye, Diego, and goodbye Napoli.”
