CHICAGO — Des Watson was instrumental for Loyola Chicago as he contributed 21 points in their narrow victory over Rhode Island, finishing the game with a score of 81-77 on Wednesday evening.

Watson demonstrated accuracy, making 8 of 13 shots, including 2 of 3 from the three-point line, and converting 3 of 4 attempts at the free-throw line. The Ramblers, now boasting an 11-6 record and 2-2 in the Atlantic 10 Conference, also saw Jalen Quinn shine with 17 points and five assists. Additionally, Francis Nwaokorie added 14 points, shooting 5 of 6 overall and hitting 3 of 4 from long-range.

On the other side, the Rams, who now hold a 13-4 record and are 2-3 in the conference, had Sebastian Thomas leading the scoring for his team with 20 points and six assists. Javonte Brown contributed 16 points, while Cam Estevez rounded out their top performers with 15 points.

Watson made a significant impact in the first half with 12 points, yet Loyola Chicago found themselves trailing at halftime, 39-38. The second half was intense, featuring 13 lead changes and four ties, with Quinn able to add 11 points to help clinch the win for the Ramblers.
