CHICAGO — In an intense showdown, Javon Jackson scored an impressive 30 points, leading the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) to a thrilling 97-93 victory over Murray State in double overtime on Wednesday evening.

The game took a dramatic turn when Murray State’s Terence Harcum made three free throws with just three seconds to go, leading to a first overtime with the score tied at 76-76. Harcum continued to shine, driving down the lane and scoring right before the buzzer in the first overtime, which ended with both teams tied again at 88 points.

In the second overtime, Harcum nailed a 3-pointer, granting the Racers their last advantage at 93-91 with 3:19 remaining. However, Jackson quickly responded for UIC by making two free throws and then following up with a 3-pointer, which allowed UIC to gain traction and ultimately secure the win.

Throughout the game, Jackson demonstrated his scoring ability, hitting 12 of his 20 field goal attempts while also contributing five assists for the Flames, who stand at a record of 12-6 and 4-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Tyem Freeman also had a strong performance, putting up 21 points, while Filip Skobalj added 15 points to the scoreboard.

On the opposing side, Alden Applewhite was the standout for Murray State, contributing 22 points along with two steals. Kylen Milton supported the effort with 15 points and four steals, while Harcum finished the night with a solid 14 points and six assists.
