FORT WORTH, Texas — In an intense matchup on Wednesday night, Utah emerged victorious against TCU with a final score of 73-65, never losing the lead throughout the game. Gabe Madsen was a standout for Utah, contributing 17 points, while Keanu Dawes supported the effort with 16 points of his own. Other notable players for Utah included Lawson Lovering, who scored 11 points, and Mike Sharavjamts with 10 points. Additionally, Jake Wahlin was impactful on the boards, pulling down 11 rebounds along with adding eight points to the team’s tally.
Vasean Allette led TCU’s scoring, netting 19 points, while teammates Noah Reynolds and Brendan Wenzel each chipped in 12 points. Micah Robinson also added 10 points for TCU as they sought to close the gap.
In the first half, Madsen put up 11 points, helping Utah reach a 30-26 lead by halftime. Allette scored 11 points before the break for TCU. The Utes later extended their advantage to 45-31 with just over 14 minutes left in the game. TCU fought back to get within six points multiple times in the latter half, with the closest moment coming when Robinson made a three-pointer with just 13 seconds remaining. The game saw only one tie occurring five minutes after tip-off.
This contest marked the first conference clash between these two teams since they last shared a league in 2011 while partaking in the former Western Athletic Conference and Mountain West Conference.
With this victory, Utah has now secured two consecutive wins following a rough patch that saw them lose four games in a row. Looking ahead, they will face their rivals from BYU on Saturday. Meanwhile, TCU will head out on the road to challenge the No. 25 Baylor Bears on Sunday.
