PHILADELPHIA — La Salle secured a thrilling 79-76 win against Davidson on Wednesday night, thanks to an impressive performance by Deuce Jones, who scored 23 points.
With just seven seconds remaining in the game, La Salle held a 79-73 lead when Bobby Durkin managed to pull off a buzzer-beating three-pointer for Davidson, adding a dramatic finish to the contest.
In addition to his scoring, Jones contributed significantly with five assists and three steals, helping the Explorers to improve their record to 10-7 overall and 2-3 within the Atlantic 10 Conference. Daeshon Shepherd also played a crucial role, scoring 19 points while shooting 6 of 13 from the field, including an impressive 4 of 7 from beyond the arc, and converting 3 of 4 free throws. Mac Etienne had a notable game as well, contributing nine points and grabbing 14 rebounds.
On the other side, Reed Bailey led the Wildcats with 21 points, along with four assists and two steals, while Bobby Durkin added 20 points and eight rebounds. Kochera contributed 14 points and three steals, attempting to keep Davidson competitive.
During the first half, Jones scored 11 points, but La Salle went into halftime trailing 41-33. However, the Explorers made a remarkable comeback in the second half, executing a 19-2 run that allowed them to erase a nine-point deficit, ultimately taking a 66-58 lead with just under six minutes left to play. Shepherd was pivotal in this turnaround, scoring 14 points in the second half.
