CHICAGO — The Atlanta Hawks will be without their All-Star point guard, Trae Young, for their match against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday evening due to a bruised right rib.

Head coach Quin Snyder mentioned that Young “took a pretty good shot” during the game against Phoenix on Tuesday, where he delivered an impressive performance scoring a season-high 43 points in a 122-117 victory. Snyder expressed uncertainty regarding the duration of Young’s absence.

“It’s been just 24 hours,” Snyder noted. “We’re optimistic that he will return soon. If you have ever experienced a rib injury, doctors often struggle to determine whether it’s broken or merely bruised and sore. Trae plays with a lot of grit, making it difficult to find a more resilient guard than him, especially given his weight of 175 pounds.”

Currently, Young is averaging 23.1 points per game along with a remarkable 11.9 assists, leading the league in that category. His absence adds to a growing list of injuries affecting the Hawks, which includes Jalen Johnson (right shoulder inflammation), De’Andre Hunter (left foot soreness), Larry Nance Jr. (right hand injury), and rookie Zaccharie Risacher (left adductor irritation).

As of the start of Wednesday’s game, Atlanta was positioned ninth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 20-19.
