Inter misses opportunity to gain ground on title contenders with draw against Bologna

MILAN — In Serie A action on Wednesday, Inter Milan was unable to capitalize on their competitors faltering, resulting in a 2-2 tie against Bologna.
Despite this outcome, Inter closed the gap to just three points behind Napoli, who currently leads the league, and they have a game in hand to potentially reclaim the top spot.
However, the draw left Inter only one point ahead of Atalanta, who currently occupies third place after enduring a streak of three consecutive draws.
This match marked the end of Inter’s impressive six-game winning streak in the league.
Bologna, sitting in eighth place, initially took the lead in the 15th minute when Nikola Moro’s volley from outside the box was deflected into the net by Santiago Castro, catching goalkeeper Yann Sommer off guard.
Inter responded swiftly, leveling the score just four minutes later with a goal from Denzel Dumfries.
Before halftime, Lautaro Martínez played a pivotal role, scoring and turning the match in Inter’s favor with his first goal at San Siro in over two months.
In the second half, Bologna struck back, with Emil Holm equalizing in the 64th minute thanks to a substantial deflection that altered the course of the shot.
