The Boston Red Sox made a notable move on Wednesday by acquiring catcher Blake Sabol from the San Francisco Giants, in exchange for an allocation of their international signing bonus pool.
Sabol, who is 27 years old, showcased a batting average of .313 across 11 games with the Giants. However, he primarily spent the bulk of the 2024 season playing at Triple-A Sacramento. Throughout his career in Major League Baseball, featuring a total of 121 games, he holds a batting average of .243, having hit 13 home runs and racked up 44 runs batted in (RBIs).
In order to accommodate Sabol on their 40-man roster, the Red Sox made the decision to designate right-handed pitcher Chase Shugart for assignment.
