Former Oklahoma State quarterback Gunnar Gundy has joined the coaching staff of the Cowboys as an assistant coach.
As detailed in his X account biography, he will serve as a quality control coach focusing on the quarterbacks under the supervision of his father, Mike Gundy. An official spokesperson from Oklahoma State confirmed this addition to the coaching team.

During his time as a player, Gunnar Gundy spent three years at Oklahoma State, primarily taking on the role of backup quarterback.
Across nine games, he accumulated a total of 449 passing yards along with four touchdown passes, and he also rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown. In his most recent season, he played at Emporia State, a Division II institution, where he had a notable performance with 2,751 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and 299 rushing yards along with five rushing touchdowns, before deciding to enter the transfer portal.

Now, he aims to assist his father in recovering from a challenging 3-9 season, which prompted Mike Gundy to release both his offensive and defensive coordinators.

In addition to Gunnar’s hiring, Oklahoma State revealed a number of other staff appointments on Wednesday.
Cooper Bassett and Andrew Mitchell will take on the roles of offensive line coaches, while Kevin Johns has been named the quarterbacks coach. Cory Patterson will oversee the running backs, DJ Tialavea will coach tight ends, and Theron Aych will be responsible for the wide receivers.

On the defensive side, key positions have also been filled. Greg Brown will coach the safeties, Kap Dede will lead the linebackers, Jules Montinar will take care of the cornerbacks, and Ryan Osborn will supervise the defensive line.

Furthermore, Sean Snyder has been appointed as the special teams coach, also overseeing punters and kickers for the upcoming season.
