TRENTON, N.J. — A man employed as a custodian in a New Jersey school has admitted to charges concerning the contamination of food intended for students and faculty, as well as engaging in deplorable conduct with cooking utensils, according to reports from authorities on Tuesday.
Giovanni Impellizzeri, a 27-year-old resident of Vineland, was in his role at the Upper Deerfield Township School District in 2023 when investigators found videos he had made that depicted him tainting both food items and kitchen tools. The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office stated that these videos were shared online by Impellizzeri himself, contributing to the ongoing investigation.
On Monday, he entered a guilty plea related to charges of official misconduct and for possessing material depicting child sexual abuse. Law enforcement indicated that the investigation into the videos led to the discovery of this illegal content.
Attempts to reach Impellizzeri’s attorney for comments were made on Wednesday but were not immediately successful.
Initial assessments by county health officials when the allegations surfaced in 2023 indicated that the fluids used in the contamination were not expected to pose serious health risks, although the basis for this conclusion remains unknown.
In light of these disturbing revelations, an attorney representing some families within the school district has announced that they are contemplating legal action against the school officials involved.
