ATLANTA — Jaeden Zackery delivered a stellar performance with 21 points, leading Clemson to a 70-59 victory over Georgia Tech in a matchup on Tuesday night.
Zackery demonstrated precision, shooting 7 for 12 from the field, including sinking three of the Tigers’ eight three-pointers. Supporting Zackery’s effort, Ian Schieffelin contributed 16 points, along with seven rebounds and six assists, while Chase Hunter added another 14 points and Viktor Lakhin contributed 10 points to the team’s total.
With this win, Clemson improved to 14-4 overall and 6-1 in the ACC, marking a strong performance, having triumphed in six of their last eight encounters with Georgia Tech.
On the opposing side, Baye Ndongo stood out for Georgia Tech, scoring 14 points and securing 12 rebounds. Naithan George also had a notable performance, chipping in with 13 points.
The game saw Zackery play a pivotal role in the first half as he scored 12 points, and Lakhin managed all 10 of his points, allowing Clemson to establish a 36-25 lead by halftime. Georgia Tech struggled at the onset, failing to hit a shot in their first 10 attempts until Duncan Powell made a layup with 12:42 remaining in the first half.
Georgia Tech made an attempt to claw back into the game, narrowing the gap to 37-30 early in the second half. However, a timely three-pointer from Zackery ignited a 20-11 run for Clemson, maintaining a double-digit lead for the majority of the game.
Clemson is set to face Pittsburgh in their next matchup on Saturday, while Georgia Tech aims to break a three-game losing streak when they take on Florida State in their upcoming game, also scheduled for Saturday.
