FORT WORTH, Texas — Sedona Prince impressed with a remarkable 27-point performance, while Hailey Van Lith showcased her sharpshooting skills by hitting six 3-pointers for a total of 20 points, as the 10th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs secured a 90-81 victory over UCF on Tuesday night. This win marks TCU’s ninth consecutive triumph this season.

Van Lith further contributed with seven assists in the match for the Horned Frogs (18-1, 6-0 Big 12), who dominated right from the beginning with a strong 30-point opening quarter and maintained their lead throughout. Madison Conner supported the effort with 14 points and seven assists, alongside Donovyn Hunter, who added 12 points.

This was notably Van Lith’s first game at TCU where she recorded six 3-pointers; she previously achieved this feat three times during her tenure at Louisville, with her last occurrence coming in February 2022. On the UCF side, Kaitlin Peterson was a standout performer, scoring 33 points, while Emely Rodriguez contributed 16 points and Achol Akot registered a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Observations from the game revealed that UCF, which suffered a significant 40-point loss against TCU back in December, found themselves down by as much as 23 points. However, they managed to stage a comeback late in the third quarter, closing out the period with a 10-2 run and pulling within six points at 87-81 with only 25 seconds remaining on the clock following a 10-0 scoring streak.

Since their defeat at the hands of the defending national champions, South Carolina, on December 8, TCU has been on a winning streak, claiming victory in their last 16 games at home.

A crucial moment in the game came when Conner sparked a 13-0 run for TCU in just 2.5 minutes during the first quarter, establishing a double-digit lead early on. Van Lith’s contributions during this stretch included a 3-pointer and two assists, while Prince added crucial layups and assisted Conner on her second 3-pointer, pushing the score to 26-8.

In terms of statistical highlights, TCU displayed an impressive level of teamwork, recording 29 assists on 32 made field goals throughout the match.

Looking ahead, TCU will host No. 23 Utah this Friday night, whereas UCF is set to face No. 25 Oklahoma State at home on Saturday.
