SYRACUSE, N.Y. — In a commanding performance, Chucky Hepburn propelled Louisville to an 85-61 triumph over Syracuse, marking the Cardinals’ first victory at the Carrier Dome in eight years on Tuesday night.
With this win, Louisville improved its record to 13-5 overall and 6-1 in the ACC, extending their winning streak to seven consecutive games. The last time Louisville defeated Syracuse on the road was back on February 13, 2017, when they edged out a 76-72 win in overtime.
Hepburn shone brightly, scoring a total of 24 points, hitting 8 out of 13 shots, and contributing significantly with six 3-pointers that made up half of the Cardinals’ 12 long-range shots. Terrence Edwards Jr. added support with 16 points, while J’Vonne Hadley recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
For the home team, Syracuse (8-9, 2-4) saw Chris Bell lead their scoring efforts with 18 points, hitting four 3-pointers. Eddie Lampkin Jr. also made his mark with 11 points and 10 rebounds, contributing to an overall struggle for the Orange.
The game swung decisively in Louisville’s favor late in the first half as they executed a 12-0 run, building a solid 43-27 advantage by halftime. Hepburn’s first-half efforts included 15 points from five 3-pointers, while Reyne Smith connected on two as well, setting the tone for the remainder of the match. For Syracuse, Davis was notable in the first half with 10 points, but the team could not keep pace with the Cardinals.
Looking ahead, Louisville will be back in action at home against Virginia on Saturday, while Syracuse will remain at home to take on Notre Dame the same day.
