CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Jon Hamm, famed for his role as the suave ad executive Don Draper in the acclaimed AMC series “Mad Men,” has been honored as Harvard University’s 2025 Man of the Year by the esteemed Hasty Pudding Theatricals.

Established in 1844, Hasty Pudding Theatricals is recognized as the third-oldest theatrical organization in the world that is still active today. The group announced that Hamm will be presented with his Pudding Pot award during a special roast scheduled for January 31. Following the ceremony, he will join the audience for a performance of the theater’s 176th production, entitled “101 Damnations.”

In a playful remark regarding the roast, producer Willow Woodward expressed hopes that the evening’s festivities wouldn’t incite any undue stress for Hamm, referencing the dramatic conclusion of his character’s arc in the recent Paramount+ series “Landman.” Woodward stated, “With his exceptional work ethic, we’re sure he’ll tackle our stage with the same determination found in Texas’s oil fields. He’s the ideal candidate to strike gold and secure his Pudding Pot this coming January.”

The Hasty Pudding Theatricals bestows these awards to individuals who have significantly impacted the entertainment industry with their outstanding contributions.

While Hamm’s portrayal in “Mad Men” remains his most iconic role, his impressive career includes multiple nominations for notable awards including the Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Awards for his performance as Sheriff Roy Tillman in FX’s “Fargo.” He has also starred in a variety of films, such as “Bad Times at the El Royale,” and has hosted “Saturday Night Live” on three occasions.

In recent years, previous recipients of the Man of the Year accolade include Barry Keoghan in the last year, Bob Odenkirk in 2023, and Jason Bateman in 2022.

Additionally, Hasty Pudding Theatricals will be presenting its Woman of the Year Award on February 6, an honor that has existed since 1951.
