South Bend, Indiana – In a much-needed victory, Tae Davis scored 26 points and Markus Burton contributed 20, leading Notre Dame to a 78-60 win over Boston College on Monday night, putting an end to their four-game losing streak.

The Fighting Irish, now holding a record of 8-9 and 2-4 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), had not tasted victory since a December 22 clash against Le Moyne, where they won 91-62. Since then, the team faced losses against Georgia Tech, North Carolina, NC State, and the then No. 4 ranked Duke. Additionally, the Irish had struggled against Boston College in their recent encounters, having lost six of the last seven matchups.

With just over five minutes remaining in the second half, Burton hit two free throws, granting Notre Dame its first double-digit lead of the game at 60-50.

In the paint, Notre Dame excelled, outscoring Boston College 40-18, despite entering the game with an impressive 42.2% shooting mark from beyond the arc in conference play. However, the Irish struggled in this game, hitting only 3 of 15 attempts from long range against the Eagles.

In addition to Davis’s performance, Matt Allocco contributed 13 points, while Kebba Njie added 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

The Eagles saw Donald Hand Jr. lead their scoring with 17 points. Both Elijah Strong and Chad Venning, who are typically reliable scorers, managed to net only eight points each, combining for a modest 6-of-12 on field goals.

Davis scored 11 points in the first half, helping Notre Dame to a slim lead of 36-33 at the break. Hand matched Davis’s first-half output with 11 points for Boston College.

Both teams will have a break before their next games on Saturday, with Boston College set to face No. 3 Duke and Notre Dame traveling to meet Syracuse.
