KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Patrick Mahomes is experiencing a remarkable postseason before even stepping onto the field for a game.

The star quarterback for the Chiefs and his wife, Brittany, shared exciting news on Monday about the arrival of their third child, a daughter named Golden Raye. She was welcomed into the world on Sunday as Kansas City prepared to find out who they would face in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Having secured the top seed in the playoffs, the Chiefs enjoyed a weekend break and are set to compete against the Houston Texans on Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium, marking a rematch of a previous encounter in which Kansas City emerged victorious last month.

The Mahomes family already includes a 3-year-old daughter, Sterling, and a 2-year-old son named Bronze. Patrick, reflecting on his desire to start a family young, shared insights from a past interview about his upbringing. “I always wanted to have kids young,” he noted, mentioning the influence of his own father’s professional baseball career on his life. “Growing up in the locker room had a huge impact on me, and I wanted to have kids early as well.”

Last month, Mahomes expressed his hope that their new addition would arrive during the team’s bye week, perfectly aligning his timing aspirations. In July, he and Brittany announced on social media that they were expecting their third child, later revealing that it would be another girl.

The Mahomes’ love story began in high school, and together they have built a life filled with achievements. Patrick Kahomes went on to play quarterback at Texas Tech, eventually becoming a first-round draft selection for the Chiefs in 2017. Meanwhile, Brittany excelled as a soccer player at the University of Texas-Tyler and even played professionally in Iceland. The couple celebrated their marriage in Hawaii in March 2022.

When it comes to the possibility of a fourth child, Mahomes put the speculation to rest last July ahead of training camp, humorously affirming his family plans. “I’m done. I’ll say that,” he stated with a smile. “I did three and I’m done.”
