STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Masai Troutman was a standout for Northeastern, contributing 22 points from the bench in a thrilling 70-66 win over Stony Brook on Saturday evening.
Troutman’s performance included shooting 3 for 8 from the floor, with a reasonable 2 for 5 accuracy from beyond the arc, and he excelled at the free-throw line, hitting 14 of 15 attempts. His teammates also had strong showings, with LA Pratt scoring 17 points on 6 of 15 shooting while adding seven rebounds and three steals. Rashad King chipped in with 10 points, hitting 3 of 8 shots, including 2 for 4 from three-point territory.
For the Seawolves, CJ Luster II led the squad with 22 points. Nick Woodard also made a significant contribution with 16 points, recording six rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. Additionally, Collin O’Connor contributed eight points along with five assists and three steals in the match.
In the first half, Pratt emerged strong for Northeastern, scoring 12 points and helping his team establish a commanding 39-26 lead at halftime. The decisive moment of the game came with two minutes left in the second half when Troutman sank a free throw, pushing Northeastern ahead 58-57, and they never looked back from there.
The teams are set to play again on Thursday, with Northeastern heading to UNC Wilmington while Stony Brook will visit Delaware.
