YPSILANTI, Mich. — In a dominating performance, James Okonkwo scored 17 points, contributing significantly to Akron’s 105-81 win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday night.
Okonkwo also secured five rebounds for the Zips, who improved their record to 10-5 overall and 3-0 in the Mid-American Conference.
Isaiah Gray added 13 points to the score for Akron and recorded three steals, while Nate Johnson showcased his efficiency, finishing 5 of 7 from the floor for a total of 12 points. Johnson also grabbed six rebounds and made four steals, amplifying the team’s performance.
The Eagles were led by Christian Henry, who had a standout game with 20 points and three steals. Da’Sean Nelson contributed 16 points along with four assists, and Arne Osojnik chipped in with 15 points, but their efforts fell short against the powerful Zips.
Looking ahead, both teams are scheduled to play again on Tuesday. Akron will be hosting Toledo, while Eastern Michigan will hit the road to face Central Michigan.
