ROCK HILL, S.C. — In an impressive offensive display, Winthrop triumphed over Longwood with a score of 95-76 on Saturday.

Leading the charge for Winthrop was Paul Jones III, who netted 24 points, shooting an efficient 9 for 14 overall and 6 for 11 from three-point range.

Kelton Talford contributed significantly to the win as well, scoring 17 points with a shooting mark of 7 of 10 from the field while also converting 3 of 4 from the free-throw line.

Talford further bolstered his performance by grabbing nine rebounds.

Nick Johnson added to the team’s success with 16 points, shooting 4 of 8 from the field, which included 2 for 5 from beyond the arc, and he made 6 of 8 free throws.

In addition to his scoring, Johnson secured seven rebounds for the Eagles, who now hold a record of 12-7 and are 2-2 in the Big South Conference.

On the other side of the court, Longwood, now 13-6 and also at 2-2 in the conference, saw standout performances from Kyrell Luc, who tallied 18 points along with three steals.

Colby Garland impressed with his all-around game, contributing 15 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
Angelo Brizzi also made his mark, finishing with 13 points and two steals.

This matchup showcased the competitive spirit of both teams, with Winthrop clearly outshining Longwood in this engaging conference battle.
