Yale emerged victorious in their Ivy League opener on Saturday, defeating Brown with a commanding score of 79-58. The Bulldogs saw impressive performances from Nick Townsend and Casey Simmons, who each contributed 18 points to the team’s success.

Townsend also recorded eight rebounds, showcasing his all-around gameplay for the Bulldogs, who now hold a record of 8-6 overall and 1-0 in the Ivy League. Simmons demonstrated accuracy on the court, making 7 of his 11 attempts and hitting all 4 of his free throws, while also adding seven rebounds to his tally. Additionally, Samson Aletan made his mark by scoring 12 points, connecting on 5 of 7 shots from the field.

For Brown, while they fell to 8-6 and 0-1 in league play, Lyndel Erold led the team with 15 points and contributed two steals. Teammate Landon Lewis added 14 points and collected eight rebounds, further supporting the Bears’ efforts. Kino Lilly Jr. also made a noteworthy contribution with 13 points and five assists.

The action doesn’t stop here, as both teams are scheduled to play again next Saturday. Yale will head to Columbia, while Brown will be competing at home against Harvard.
