ARLINGTON, Texas — Matthew Golden, the top receiver for Texas, has made his return to the Longhorns’ College Football Playoff semifinal matchup against Ohio State after briefly leaving the field due to a foot injury.
Golden showcased his skills right at the beginning of the game with an impressive one-handed grab that secured a crucial third down. Early in the first quarter, reports emerged that he was being evaluated for a foot concern in the medical tent. However, he rejoined the action during the second quarter, where he was penalized for a facemask infraction while blocking on a short pass play.
Shortly afterwards, following a punt by Texas, Golden was observed walking down the tunnel towards the locker room. He returned to the sidelines before halftime but was not involved in the game again until the fourth quarter, where he was targeted for a pass that fell incomplete on a key third down.
The 24-yard reception on the opening drive remained his only catch of the night. Heading into this game, Golden had compiled 56 receptions for a total of 936 yards and nine touchdowns during the current season.
