Quarterback Kyle McCord from Syracuse University made an announcement on social media on Friday, declaring his intention to enter the NFL draft following one outstanding season with the Orange.

In his remarkable season, McCord amassed an impressive 4,779 passing yards, leading the nation and setting a new Atlantic Coast Conference single-season record previously held by Deshaun Watson. He was recognized by making the Associated Press all-bowl team, thanks to a stellar performance where he threw for 453 yards and five touchdowns in a bowl victory against Washington State.

Prior to the bowl game, McCord showcased his talents by throwing for 380 yards and scoring three touchdowns in a thrilling 42-38 upset over then-No. 6 Miami, a win that ultimately eliminated the Hurricanes from contention for the ACC title.

His ability as a quarterback is highlighted by his ranking of fourth nationally with 34 touchdown passes, contributing significantly to Syracuse’s successful season that culminated in a 10-3 record.

“I aspire to be the catalyst that revitalized Syracuse football to its former glory,” expressed McCord following the victory over Miami. “This achievement reflects the team’s hard work. It clearly demonstrates that Syracuse is a serious contender, and I will cherish being part of this transformative journey for years to come.”

In his statement, McCord expressed his gratitude towards Syracuse head coach Fran Brown, acknowledging the pivotal role he played in his development during what he referred to as an “incredible journey.”

“I will be eternally thankful for your unwavering belief and support throughout my tenure at Syracuse,” McCord stated regarding his coach.

Before joining Syracuse, McCord began his college football career at Ohio State, where he threw for 3,170 yards and had 24 touchdown passes in the previous season.
