ATLANTA — On Friday, at Atlanta’s bustling airport, an incident involving a Delta Air Lines flight heading to Minneapolis resulted in four passengers sustaining injuries.

The aircraft encountered issues with one of its engines, as reported by Delta representative Morgan Durrant.

This event unfolded amidst a severe snowstorm, leading to numerous flight cancellations and delays at what is known as the busiest airport in the world.

However, officials have not confirmed whether the adverse weather conditions contributed to the engine failure.

All aboard the Boeing 757-300, which included 201 passengers, two pilots, and five flight attendants, were evacuated using inflatable slides and subsequently transported back to a concourse.

One passenger required hospitalization, while three others received treatment at the airport for their minor injuries.

Durrant emphasized that the flight crew adhered to standard safety protocols to halt the takeoff procedure.

“The safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused our customers,” he stated.

“We are focused on assisting our customers and ensuring they reach their destinations safely and in a timely manner.”

In response to the incident, the Federal Aviation Administration announced that it would conduct an investigation.

At Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, all five runways were reported to be closed at various times during the day.

By midday, Delta disclosed that it had canceled approximately 500 flights due to the snowstorm, which arrived with greater intensity than anticipated, affecting de-icing operations and overall airport activity.

Delta has offered its customers the option to rebook their flights without incurring additional fees and has indicated that further cancellations or schedule changes may occur.
