The Baltimore Orioles have reached an agreement with reliever Andrew Kittredge for a one-year contract valued at $10 million, according to a source familiar with the arrangement.

This deal, which remains unannounced, includes a $9 million salary for the upcoming season along with a team option for 2026 valued at $9 million, accompanied by a $1 million buyout.

The 34-year-old right-handed pitcher had a solid performance last year with the St. Louis Cardinals, finishing with a record of 5-5 and a 2.80 ERA, along with one save. Over the course of 70 and two-thirds innings, he recorded 67 strikeouts while issuing 20 walks.

Prior to his time with the Cardinals, Kittredge spent seven seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays, accumulating a career record of 23-12 and a 3.44 ERA across 240 appearances in relief as well as 15 starts.

The addition of Kittredge could significantly enhance the Orioles’ bullpen, especially with the anticipated return of closer Félix Bautista, who was sidelined last season due to Tommy John surgery. While the Orioles had initially signed Craig Kimbrel to cover for Bautista, Kimbrel’s performance led to his release before the season concluded.

Kittredge’s experience adds a valuable asset to Baltimore’s late-inning strategy. Though he has transitioned away from being predominantly a groundball pitcher in recent years, his pitching style might complement the new dimensions at Camden Yards, particularly with the left field wall being repositioned for the 2025 season.

The Orioles faced a setback with the departure of ace starter Corbin Burnes, who entered free agency. Despite their activity in the market, Baltimore has opted for a measured approach, securing one-year contracts for players like Charlie Morton, Gary Sánchez, Tomoyuki Sugano, and now Kittredge. Additionally, the organization made a longer-term commitment to outfielder Tyler O’Neill, which includes an opt-out clause for the player after the 2025 season.
